Definition of Reclassification. A position may be considered for reclassification once a unit member has completed two (2) years in a specific position and it can be shown that responsibilities or additional duties at a higher level have been added to the position, which is not reflected in the job description. An increase in the workload at the same level does not qualify for reclassification. For a new unit member the two year waiting period is made up of the probationary year and the first year of regular permanent employment. A unit member whose position has been reclassified may not apply for another reclassification for at least two years from the date of the last reclassification request.
