Degree Allowance. Employees shall be entitled to a one time payment of $1,750 for a Doctorate degree from a recognized university. The employee shall qualify for only one Doctorate of Philosophy degree and this allowance shall be paid out once the employee has submitted proof of successful completion of the degree to the Board. This shall apply to all employees who currently have a Doctorate of Philosophy degree, and to those who attain such a degree in the future.

Only the highest degree is to be recognized and payment is in addition to the annual salary. If a post-graduate degree is used for category qualification, then the above allowance will be reduced by 50%.
(a) Where a Teacher obtains a qualifying postgraduate degree prior to September first (1st), the salary adjustment will be made effective from the beginning of school in September of that year. Adjustments are contingent upon proper documentation and such documents must be submitted by March thirty-first (31st) to be effective September first (1st) of the current year.
(b) Where a Teacher obtains a qualifying postgraduate degree prior to December thirty-first (31st), the salary adjustment will be made effective January first (1st) of the calendar year following. Adjustments are contingent upon proper documentation and such documents must be submitted by Xxxx xxxxxxxxx (30th) to be effective on January first (1st) of the current year.

Lil’wat Nation will maintain current practice and provide the employee a monthly degree allowance of either one hundred dollars ($100) per month for their bachelor’s degree or one hundred twenty- five dollars ($125) per month for their master’s degree. If an employee has both degrees, they will receive the allowance for the master’s degree.
