Department Peer Sample Clauses

The 'Department Peer' clause defines the role and involvement of a peer from the same department in a particular process, such as performance reviews, dispute resolution, or decision-making. Typically, this clause specifies that an employee or party will have the right to consult with, be evaluated by, or be accompanied by a colleague from their own department during relevant proceedings. By including a department peer, the clause ensures that there is subject-matter familiarity and fairness in the process, helping to provide balanced input and support, and addressing concerns about impartiality or lack of understanding from outside the department.
Department Peer. The department peer will be selected from the rotation list, except for adjunct probationary evaluations. (For probationary evaluations, see section 14B.05.C. See section 14B.20 for a description of how the rotation list is created and maintained.) 1. In making department peer assignments from the rotation list, the department chair/committee will take into account class scheduling conflicts and, if necessary, move to the next name on the rotation list. However, for adjunct probationary evaluations, the chair will appoint a peer rather than using the rotation list. 2. The evaluee has the right to reject one (1) department peer. When that occurs, the chair/committee will identify a new department peer by choosing the next available name from the rotation list.

With the prior agreement of the supervising administrator, a department chair may offer any probationary faculty member in Years 2, 3, or 4 of the tenure review process the opportunity to serve as an evaluator for regular and/or adjunct faculty evaluations, provided that the evaluee is not a member of the probationary faculty member’s tenure review team. The probationary faculty member may accept or decline this offer without prejudice. The only exception to this arrangement will be if a probationary faculty member has an assignment that requires evaluations of others as a part of the job description. In that case, the evaluations are a required part of the job in all years of employment.
