Early Calls. If the crew receives a call at the beginning of the shift and has not had adequate time (maximum twenty (20) minutes) to check the vehicle and supplies, it is understood that they are to respond and provide the best care possible under the circumstances. If equipment problems are encountered that would jeopardize the safe handling of the patient, the crew may request that a back up vehicle be sent.

Early Calls. They last up to one hour and have to take place immediately before a scheduled performance, with the provision of a 20 minute refreshment break before the ‘Half Hour Call’ unless the band wish to arrange a different timing. The payment is 25% of the basic performance rate in SGT, i.e. £35.18, applicable to both SGT and the SWP. Early Calls need to be agreed with the Head of Music and arranged with Stage Management. Early Calls. When a musician is required to depart from his/her normal centre of employment before 8.30am, and/or to be present at a concert or rehearsal before 8.30am, an early call payment shall be made, calculated at the rate of £3.25 per half hour or part thereof, subject to a minimum of £6.49, for all necessary travelling or working time prior to 8.30am. The time of departure from the musician’s normal centre of employment is defined with reference to the contracted commencement time of the concert or rehearsal, the distance to be travelled from the recognised central point of the musician’s normal centre of employment, and an average speed of travel of 50mph. If a musician’s departure time is defined as being before 6.00am, the early call payment shall be replaced by an overnight stay payment, calculated at the rate applicable to the musician’s destination.
Early Calls. (a) If a crew member elects to respond to an early call thirty(30) minutes before the start of the shift and replace a prior crew member, then he will be paid at the appropriate rate of overtime pay, the replaced crew member will be paid in full until the end of his regularly scheduled shift.
