Employee Required To Remain Available. 1. Employees on administrative leave must remain available so that they can be contacted by telephone or in person during their regular working hours, and so that they can return to work as directed by the supervisor placing the employee on administrative leave. This means that an employee on administrative leave may not consider the leave time as vacation or personal time.

Employee Required To Remain Available. Employees on paid administrative leave must remain available so they can be contacted by telephone or personally during normal working hours from 0800-1700, excluding the noon lunch hour, Monday through Friday. This means an employee on paid administrative leave may not consider the leave time as vacation or personal time. The employee must provide the supervisor with telephone numbers where he or she can be reached during normal working hours and must promptly return calls from the supervisor or the Human Resources Department. In addition, the employee must obtain prior permission of the Deputy Chief, an Assistant Chief, Director or his/her designee, who placed the employee on administrative leave, to use accrued vacation, compensatory, holiday, or award time in order to be away from his or her residence for longer than a single workday.
