EMS Training Officer. The EMS training officer position (formerly EMS Assistant) shall be filled by the process established in this article. Eligible applicants must currently be commissioned to the rank of Lieutenant. The EMS training officer position shall be a two-year appointment and shall normally begin in January. Eligible officers who wish to apply for the position shall do so in writing to the deputy chief within an application period established by management. The selection for EMS training officer from the pool of eligible applicants will occur through a process established by the fire chief or his/her designee. Should no lieutenant from the bargaining unit apply for the position of training officer during the application period, the lieutenant with the least amount of seniority in rank will be appointed to the position for no greater than one calendar year. Should a vacancy occur mid-term due to separation of employment by the EMS training officer, the position will be open to all bargaining unit lieutenants for application. Should no eligible lieutenant apply for the EMS training officer position, the candidate from the lieutenant eligibility roster who is promoted to fill the vacant lieutenant position shall fill the position to completion of the calendar year. Should no new promotion from the lieutenant eligibility list occur after the most recent lieutenant appointment to the position, the next most recently promoted lieutenant shall be appointed to the position of EMS training officer for a duration no greater than one calendar year. If a Lieutenant is forced in to the position, they will be relieved of any other force mechanism for either EMS Training officer, or training officer upon completion of the one calendar year.

  • Field Training Officer When a Public Safety Officer has been designated as a Field Training Officer for a new employee he/she will receive a five percent (5%) increase for all the hours they provide direct training/instruction.

  • Field Training Officers The position of Field Training Officer (FTO) shall be held by a Trooper or Sergeant who most closely meets the requirements set forth by the Employer which are outlined in policy OSP-501.08. If the Employer determines there are an insufficient number of qualified volunteers, it may appoint other individuals to be FTOs. The District Commander shall make the final selections. A supplement of eight hundred dollars ($800.00) shall be given to all FTOs for the sixty (60) working day training period. This amount will be prorated in instances where the training period is cut short or lengthened. Field Training Officers and their trainees will be required to work twenty (20) days on each of the three shifts during the training period.

  • Job Training The Employer and the Union shall establish a Joint Committee on Training and Skill Upgrading for the following purposes:

  • Medical Review Officer The Medical Review Officer (MRO) shall be a licensed physician who has a knowledge of substance abuse disorders and has appropriate medical training to interpret and evaluate an individual’s positive test result together with the employee’s medical history and any other relevant biomedical information.

  • Hearing Officer The Hearing Officer shall be jointly selected by the parties within thirty (30) days of the execution of this contract and shall serve for a minimum of one (1) year from the date of selection. At that time the parties may choose to re-appoint the Hearing Officer or select a different Hearing Officer who will also serve for a minimum of one (1) year from date of selection.

  • Off the Job Training Where it is agreed that an employee undertakes job related training provided by the Employer or by a Third Party, that training may be undertaken either on or off the job. Where courses are available during normal working hours, the employee has first option of attending training at these times. If such training is undertaken during normal working hours, the employee concerned will not suffer any loss of pay. Where the Employer requires an employee to undertake mandatory job related training after hours, single time rates shall apply. Any costs associated with standard fees for prescribed courses and prescribed textbooks (except those textbooks which are available in the Employer's technical library) incurred in connection with the undertaking of training will be reimbursed by the Employer upon production of evidence of such expenditure. Provided that reimbursement will also be on an annual basis subject to the presentation of reports of satisfactory progress. Travel costs incurred by an employee undertaking training in accordance with this clause which exceed those normally incurred in travelling to and from work will be reimbursed by the Employer.
