Exceeding the Sick Leave Benefits. An Employee leaving employment that has overdrawn their sick leave shall have deducted from any monies owing them by the Employer an amount calculated on the basis of the number of days sick leave overdrawn at the rate of salary on separation.

Exceeding the Sick Leave Benefits. An employee leaving employment that has overdrawn their sick leave shall have deducted from any monies owing them by the Employer an amount calculated on the basis of the number of days sick leave overdrawn at the rate of salary on separation. Compassionate Care Family Leave Employees shall be granted a definite leave of absence without pay in accordance with legislation both federally and provincially, to care for a seriously ill family member. During the leave, the employee will continue to accumulate all benefits and seniority under this collective agreement. On return from leave, the Employee will be placed in their former position. The Employer will provide further details of compassionate care leave in the policy manual. Other Types of Leave Employees will be eligible for an unpaid leave for reasons otherwise not included in the collective agreement but included and protected under legislation, both federally and provincially. Sickness to Be Reported An employee absent from duty due to sickness or other emergency must inform the manager or designate at least one (1) hour prior to the time at which the employee was scheduled to report for duty. Where extenuating medical circumstances exist, notification shall be given as soon as possible thereafter.

  • Sick Leave Benefits Sick leave is an indemnity benefit and not an acquired right. A Nurse who is absent from a scheduled shift on approved sick leave shall only be entitled to sick leave pay if the Nurse is not otherwise receiving pay for that day, and providing the Nurse has sufficient sick leave credits.

  • Leave Benefits Paid leave is available to the Superintendent when the following specific conditions are met: (1) the Superintendent is currently employed by the District and (2) the paid leave day is taken on a day Superintendent would otherwise be expected to be at work.

An employee who is absent because of disability leave and who is receiving disability indemnity payments may request that the amount of disability indemnity payment be supplemented with salary to be charged against the employee's sick leave with pay credits so as to equal the amount the employee would have earned for a regular work schedule. If the employee wishes to exercise this option, the employee must submit a signed statement to the employee's department no later than thirty (30) days following the employee's release from disability leave.

  • Benefits on Sick Leave Effective for absences beginning on or after April 1, 2000, the Hospital will pay the employer portion of the benefit premiums while an employee is on sick leave, including the EI period prior to the commencement of long term disability and LTD, to a maximum of 30 months from the date the absence began.

  • Extended Benefits If you are disabled on the date your healthcare coverage ends, your benefits will be temporarily extended for any continuous loss, which commenced while your coverage was in force. The services provided under this benefit are subject to all terms, conditions, limitations and exclusions listed in this agreement, and the care you receive must relate to or arise out of the disability you had on the day your healthcare coverage ended. Extended benefits apply only to the subscriber who is disabled. If you want to receive coverage for continued care when your coverage ends, you must provide us with proof that you are disabled. We will make a determination whether your condition constitutes a disability and you will have the right to appeal our determination or to take legal action. The extension of benefits will end upon the earliest of the following events: • the continuous disability ends; or • twelve (12) months from the termination date; or • payment of the benefit limits under this plan.

  • Accrued 100% sick leave The use of sick leave under this subsection is at the employee's discretion.
