Experience Credit for Career Center Teachers. The following shall apply only to those teachers assigned to the Elkhart Area Career Center who hold an Occupational Specialist license. a. All professional instructional staff members must qualify for an appropriate teaching license. A copy of said license must be on file with the Director of Human Resources. Teachers with an Occupational Specialist license shall be placed on the Career Pathway Schedule. b. The Director of Human Resources shall have the final decision on all matters concerning recognition of teaching and/or work experience submitted for initial placement. c. Work experience submitted for initial placement on the Career Pathway Schedule shall be certified in writing by the private or public sector employer prior to initial employment of the teacher by the Board. d. Work experience shall be defined as employment in a skilled trade, business, or industry, applicable to the position for which the teacher is to be employed. e. A teacher may be granted experience levels on the Career Pathway Schedule in the amount of one year of experience granted for each full year of completed teaching experience, and/or one year of experience each year of approved work experience. No more than five (5) years of experience will be recognized except pursuant to the exceptions established in Article Six C-2.

As a teacher operating under an Occupational Specialist license, work experience submitted for initial placement on the Certified Teacher Salary Schedule shall be certified in writing by the private or public sector employer prior to initial employment of the teacher by the Board. d. Work experience shall be defined as employment in a skilled trade, business, or industry, applicable to the position for which the teacher is to be employed. e. A teacher may be granted the amount of one year of experience for each full year of completed teaching experience, and/or one year of experience each year of approved work experience.

Teachers with an Occupational Specialist license shall be placed on the Bachelor’s hiring schedule. b. The Executive Director of Personnel and Legal Services shall have the final decision on all matters concerning recognition of teaching and/or work experience submitted for initial placement. c. Work experience submitted for initial placement on the Hiring Schedule shall be certified in writing by the private or public sector employer prior to initial employment of the teacher by the Board. d. Work experience shall be defined as employment in a skilled trade, business, or industry, applicable to the position for which the teacher is to be employed. e. A teacher may be granted experience credit on the Hiring Schedule in the amount of one year of experience granted for each full year of completed teaching experience, and/or one year of experience for two (2) years of approved work experience. No more than five (5) years of experience will be recognized except pursuant to the exceptions established in Article Six C-2.

  • Experience Credit a. For the purpose of this article, a teacher teaching on call (TTOC) shall be credited with one (1) day of experience for each full-time equivalent day worked. b. One hundred seventy (170) full-time equivalent days credited shall equal one (1) year of experience.
