Common use of Extended Absences Clause in Contracts

Extended Absences. When parents wish to take their children out of school temporarily, advance notice is essential. The principal and teacher will discuss with the parents the possible effects of an extended absence. If a student is absent for an extended time, (e.g., 15 or more days), academic performance will be affected and official grades may be withheld. Leaving school early, prior to 2:30 pm, is considered a half-day absence. Leaving school after 2:30 pm is equivalent to an “early leave”. A student may not leave the school before the regular dismissal time without a written request from a parent or guardian. The request must state the reason for early dismissal.
