Common use of Health and Hardship Leave Clause in Contracts

Health and Hardship Leave. Any bus driver whose personal illness extends beyond the period covered by accumulated sick leave shall request in writing a health and hardship leave. The bus driver shall be placed on health and hardship leave for the period of time necessary for complete recovery, but not to exceed one (1) calendar year from the date of inception of the illness or disability. Upon recovery, the bus driver shall be required to submit a physician’s statement attesting to the bus driver’s ability to fully perform the duties of his/her position, subject to Article XXIII, Section 5 below.
