Common use of HOURS AND WORK WEEK Clause in Contracts

HOURS AND WORK WEEK. A. For each regular full-time employee, the standard workweek shall be thirty-five (35) hours, generally Monday through Friday, and the standard workday shall be seven (7) hours, except as otherwise provided in Appendices V (Library) and IX (Xxxxxxxxx Xxxxxxxxx), or as required for the fulfillment of job responsibilities. The Town and Local 136 recognize that an employee may be required to work hours beyond the standard workday or workweek to fulfill his or her managerial and/or professional job responsibilities. However in no event may a nonexempt employee work in excess of his or her standard workday or workweek without express prior authorization from the department head. A department head may modify the schedule of an employee for attendance at evening meetings, evening office hours and other routine business matters to remain within the standard workday or workweek of the employee. Routine Town Hall evening office hours shall be limited to one evening per week. Employees shall be afforded an opportunity for a minimum of eight (8) hours of rest prior to reporting to work.
