In Higher-Rated Position. When required to substitute for another employee who is receiving a higher rate of pay: (i) For less than one (1) consecutive normal shift, the employee shall continue to receive their regular rate of pay. (2016) (ii) For a period of one (1) normal shift or more, an employee, relieving someone in a higher salary grade, shall receive a five percent (5%) increase to their regular rate of pay for those days worked while performing duties other than those in their normal grade or classification. (2016) (iii) For a period of ten (10) consecutive normal shifts or more, an employee relieving someone in a higher salary grade shall receive the rate and step for the higher salary grade consistent with the step location of their normal grade. In Higher-Rated Position. When required to substitute for another employee who is receiving a higher rate of pay: I. For the period of three (3) consecutive normal shifts or more, she shall receive the greater of her regular rate of pay or the start level rate of pay in the same grade as the employee for whom she is substituting.
In Higher-Rated Position. When required to substitute for another employee who is receiving a higher rate of pay: (i) For less than three (3) consecutive normal shifts, the employee shall continue to receive his/her regular rate of pay. (ii) For a period of three (3) consecutive normal shifts or more, an employee, relieving someone in a higher salary grade, shall receive a five percent (5%) increase to their regular rate of pay for those days worked while performing duties other than those in their normal grade or classification. (iii) For a period of twenty (20) consecutive normal shifts or more, an employee relieving someone in a higher salary grade shall receive a 5% increase to their regular rate of pay, or the minimum wage rate for the higher salary grade, provided that it does not exceed a 10% increase, whichever is greater. In Higher-Rated Position. When an employee is required by the Employer to substitute for another employee who is receiving a higher rate of pay the following shall apply: (i) Such appointments shall be for a period to be specified by the Employer in writing and will clearly indicate that the employee has been granted an acting appointment; (ii) The salary shall be the greater of the employee’s regular rate of pay or the start level rate of pay of the position of higher responsibility; (iii) The higher rate of pay shall be paid retroactively only after the incumbent has occupied the position for a period of three (3) consecutive shifts.
In Higher-Rated Position. When required to substitute for another Employee who is receiving a higher rate of pay: i) if the Employee is not required to perform the assigned duties of the Employee for whom they are substituting, as laid out in their job description, they shall continue to receive their regular rate of pay; ii) if the Employee is required to perform the assigned duties of the Employee for whom they are substituting, as laid out in their job description, they shall be paid, beginning on the first shift and continuing throughout the substitution, the greater of their regular rate of pay or the start level rate of pay in the same grade as the Employee for whom they are substituting.
