Interior Rehabilitation a) Mechanical systems. Installation, replacement or repair of plumbing, HVAC systems and units, hot water heaters, furnaces, electrical wiring and fire protection systems, provided no structural alterations are involved. Included are restroom improvements for handicapped access, provided the work is contained within the existing restroom walls.

Interior Rehabilitation. In accordance with the ACHP Policy Statement on Affordable Housing and Historic Preservation (see Appendix B), Section 106 review of rehabilitation work for residential properties in historic districts should be limited only to the exterior of buildings unless the property is individually listed or eligible for listing in the National Register or if it is a contributing building within a historic district where specific interior elements of the building contribute to maintaining a district’s character. Therefore, when a residential property is located in a historic district, interior rehabilitation work is exempt from further review or consultation, unless the property is individually eligible or listed on the National Register or the property retains interior features that contribute to maintaining the character of the district.
Interior Rehabilitation. This section does not apply to single-family residences (one-unit) or duplexes (two units), which are excluded from review of interior alterations per Stipulation II.F.
Interior Rehabilitation. A. Projects limited to interior spaces of buildings or structures to be retained in the same use where: 1. Restroom improvements, including for handicapped access, provided the work is contained within the existing restroom. C. Lighting and appliances: 1. Installation or replacement of bulbs, ballasts, and/or wiring in existing fixtures. 2. Replacement of existing fixtures with new fixtures, provided that the fixtures are not original to the building. 3. Installation of motion/occupancy sensors for lighting control. 4. Installation or replacement of existing appliances.

Installation of carpeting and other floor coverings provided that installation does not damage underlying wood or masonry floor surfaces. d. Doors and Trim: Refinishing, repair, or replacement of interior doors and trim in- kind. Replacement of non-significant flat stock trim with material to match historic pattern if known or to be compatible with the property’s historic character. e. Cabinetry, Countertops and Appliances: Refinishing, repair, or replacement of cabinetry and countertops. Repair or replacement of appliances.

All Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) accessibility improvements provided that no historic materials such as trim work, tin ceilings, windows, doors, etc. are alerted. k. All lead paint abatement that exclusively involves washing, scraping, hand sanding, and painting surfaces and does not require removal or alteration of exterior/interior features. 1. All asbestos abatement that does not involve removal or alteration of interior features.

Installment of bathroom fans providing no historic elements will be removed, altered, or damaged. c. Installment of insulation in ceiling and attic spaces, basements and crawlspaces.

All plumbing rehab/replacement - includes pipes and fixtures. 2. Heating system - rehab/replacement/cleaning. 3. Electrical work. 4. Restroom improvements for handicapped access - provided that work is contained within the existing restroom. 5. Interior surface treatments (floors, walls, ceilings, and woodwork) provided the work is restricted to repainting, refinishing, re-papering, or laying carpet or linoleum and the feature is not significant to the integrity of the property. 6. Installation of insulation provided it is restricted to attics and crawl spaces, upper surfaces of existing ceilings and the ceilings are not dropped, and proper vapor barriers are used. 7. Repair of or pouring of concrete cellar floor. 8. Installation of new kitchen and bath appliances, cabinets, counters, tubs, sinks and toilets. 9. Repair or replacement of concrete basement floors and interior basement walls. 10. Replacement of door locks.
