JOB POSTING AND SELECTION. 14.01 Management agrees to post any vacancy within the bargaining unit for a period of five (5) working days in order to give employees an opportunity to make application for the position. All employees interested in the job vacancy must make an application within eight (8) working days from the first day of posting. 14.02 When employee selections are made, qualifications, skill and ability to perform the job will be considered. In the event qualifications, skill and ability to perform the job are equal, seniority shall govern. 14.03 A copy of the posting shall be sent to the Chief Xxxxxxx and the Area Business Representative of Local 636 I.B.E.W., and they shall be advised in writing within five (5) working days of the award. 14.04 The wages, hours of work and conditions of employment of any new classification created or established within the bargaining unit during the life of this agreement will be negotiated with the Union within thirty (30) days of such establishment and become part of this agreement. 14.05 The Company agrees to make every effort to re-employ, without undue hardship to the Company, employable employees who have been placed on a disability pension by the Workplace Safety and Insurance Board. 14.06 A successful applicant for a posted position will have a trial period of thirty (30) working days for Management to determine the employee's suitability for the position. Employees who are determined not to be suitable for the position shall be returned to their former position. Any affected employees will be consequently returned to their former position. On a one time basis only, an employee may choose to be returned to their former position within the thirty (30) day trial period. 14.07 An employee who is assigned to a higher paid classification for a period of one full shift or more shall be paid the “Hire” rate of the higher classification or paid 6% on their current rate, whichever is greater. Where possible, the most senior qualified person will relieve in the higher classification. 14.08 In the event that an employee is temporarily assigned to work in a lower classification, he shall be paid the higher rate of his regular classification. 14.09 Employees in the Outside Unit represented by the IBEW Local 636 may respond to any posting as provided for in 14.01 on the following basis: (a) Such employees shall be considered to have less seniority than employees in the bargaining unit. (b) The Company shall not be required to review any response to a posting by an employee in the Outside Unit unless there is no qualified candidate amongst the applicants from the bargaining unit.

All employees interested in commencement of their vacation indicating their willingness and desire to be considered for the job vacancy must make an application within eight (8) working days from the first day of postingjob. 14.02 When employee selections are made10.02 In determining the successful candidate for a job posting within the Bargaining Unit, qualifications, skill seniority will be the governing factor providing the Employee has sufficient ability and ability qualifications to perform the work available. 10.03 In the event that there are no applicants from within the Bargaining Unit where the vacancy has occurred and relevant Articles have been complied with the Company shall fill the vacancy as it chooses. 10.04 The successful applicant from the Bargaining Unit for a job opportunity posting shall be allowed a training and qualifying period of not more than sixty (60) working days for determination of whether or not they can meet the job requirements, which period may be extended by the Company. If the Company decides the applicant is not competent to perform the work of the new classification or if the applicant decides they no longer want the position within the first twenty (20) working days, the applicant will be consideredtransferred back to their former classification. 10.05 The Company shall notify the Union in writing of the names of the internal applicants and the accepted Employee. 10.06 Since it is in the mutual best interests of the Parties to this Agreement to provide the highest level of training and development possible for apprentices, it is hereby agreed that representatives from both Union and Management will monitor and regulate the progress of candidates in any such program. Skilled employees transferred to another skilled classification will be given a twenty-four (24) month wage rate credit. After successful completion of twelve (12) months, employees will be red-circled at the thirty-six (36) month rate progression, until such time they achieve certification. (b) Transfer from a ‘Skilled’ classification to a ‘Semi-Skilled’ classification. Skilled employees transferred to a semi-skilled classification shall be paid the wage rate of the classification to which they are transferred. (c) Transfer from a ‘Semi Skilled’ classification to a ‘Skilled’ classification. Semi-skilled employees with twelve (12) months service or more, transferred to a skilled classification will be given a (12) month wage rate credit and will progress through the wage scale accordingly. Employees will be red-circled upon reaching the thirty-six (36) month progression, until such time they achieve certification. 14.06 The Company agrees to make every effort to re-employ, without undue hardship to the Company, employable employees who have been placed on a disability pension by the Workplace Safety and Insurance Board. 14.06 14.07 A successful applicant for a posted position will have a trial period of thirty (30) working days for Management to determine the employee's suitability for the position. Where possible, the most senior qualified person will relieve in the higher such classification for any and all time worked in said classification. 14.08 14.09 In the event that an employee is temporarily assigned to work in a lower classification, he shall be paid the higher rate of his regular classification. 14.09 14.10 Employees in the Outside Inside Unit represented by the IBEW Local 636 may respond to any posting as provided for in 14.01 on the following basis: (a) Such employees shall be considered to have less seniority than employees in the bargaining unit. (b) The Company shall not be required to review any response to a posting by an employee in the Outside Inside Unit unless there is no qualified candidate amongst the applicants from the bargaining unit.
