Leave for Personal Reasons. Effective July 1, 2006, a member of the bargaining unit shall be allowed six (6) days paid leave for personal reasons each fiscal year to be charged against accrued sick leave, and provided that such leave, shall be noncumulative. Except in emergency situations, employees shall request leave for personal reasons at least twenty-four (24) hours in advance of such leave. Except for the religious observance of the employee’s faith, personal leave requests shall not be made for any day immediately preceding or following a holiday; during the first or last week of the school year when students are in attendance; and/or the day immediately before or after the Thanksgiving break, the Winter break and/or the Spring break. Request for personal leave may be denied if in the judgment of the Superintendent such leave will disrupt the school or department program. Employees are not required to provide his/her supervisor with the reason for requesting personal leave.
