Leave for Union Members. Any employee who is elected or selected for a full time position with the Union or any body with which the Union is affiliated, or who is elected to public office may be granted leave of absence by the Employer for a period of one (1) year. Such leave may be renewed each year during their term of office. On the employee's first request for such leave of absence, the leave shall not begin until a suitable replacement is found, if required. When the employee returns to work, they shall return to a position at the same rate of pay (includes negotiated changes) as the position vacated.

Leave for Union Members. Leave of absence will be granted by the Hospital to not more than four (4) employees at a time who are selected to work on a full-time basis for the Union. Such leave shall not exceed one (1) year at a time and will only be renewed for three (3) additional years upon written request of the Union. The Hospital will be notified at least one (1) month in advance of the date on which such leave is to commence. If requested, such employee shall receive her/his pay, benefits provided for in the collective agreement, and the Union shall reimburse the Employer monthly for all pay and benefits during the period of absence.   • Union Membership Every employee who is now or hereafter becomes a member of the Union shall maintain membership in the Union as a condition of employment, and every new employee whose employment commences hereafter shall, within thirty (30) days after the commencement of employment, apply for and maintain membership in the Union, as a condition of employment, provided that any employee in the appropriate bargaining unit, who is not required to maintain membership or apply for and maintain membership in the Union, shall, as a condition of employment, tender to the Union the periodic dues uniformly required to be paid by the members of the Union.

  • Leave for Union Business The Hospital agrees to grant leaves of absence, without pay, to nurses selected by the Union to attend Union business including conferences, conventions and Provincial Committee meetings and to any nurse elected to the position of Local Co-ordinator. The cumulative total leave of absence, the amount of notice, the number of nurses that may be absent at any time from one area and the number of days (including those of the Local Co-ordinator) is set out in the Appendix of Local Provisions.   • Contributions for OTPP Plan Members i. When an employee/plan member is on short term sick leave and receiving less than 100% of regular salary, the Board will continue to deduct and remit OTPP contributions based on 100% of the employee/plan member’s regular pay.
