Common use of Leave Without Pay for the Care and Nurturing of Pre-School Age Children Clause in Contracts

Leave Without Pay for the Care and Nurturing of Pre-School Age Children. An employee will be granted leave without pay, for a maximum of two (2) years, for the care and nurturing of the employee’s pre-school age children in accordance with the following conditions: A) An employee will request the leave in writing sufficiently in advance to allow the Employer time to hire an acceptable replacement; B) Leave granted under this clause will be for a minimum of one (1) month; C) Leave granted under this clause for a period of more than three (3) months will be deducted from the calculation of “continuous employment” for the purpose of calculating severance pay “length of service” and vacation leave; D) Time spent on such leave will not be counted for pay increment purposes.

An employee will be granted (a) At the request of an employee, leave without pay, for pay in one (1) or more periods to a total maximum of two five (25) years, years during an employee's total period of employment at the NFB shall be provided for the care and nurturing of the employee’s pre-school age children in accordance with children. This leave cannot be used to transform a full-time job into a part-time job without the following conditions:Employer's consent. A) An employee will request the leave in writing sufficiently in advance to allow the Employer time to hire an acceptable replacement; B(b) Leave granted under this clause will be for a minimum of one (1) month; C) Leave granted under this clause without pay which is for a period of more than three (3) months will months, granted under this clause, shall be deducted from the calculation of seniority and of "continuous employment” service" for the purpose of calculating severance pay “length of service” and vacation leave; D) leave for the employee involved. Time spent on such leave will shall not be counted for pay increment purposespurposes in accordance with Article 47.
