Payment of Gratuity a. In cash:
i) Upon retirement on or after attaining minimum retirement age, or
ii) Upon retirement with permanent disability, or
iii) Upon receipt of benefits under the Long Term Disability Plan, or
iv) Upon request after the completion of one (1) or more years of service, or
v) In the event of the death of the employee in service, after the completion of one (1) or more years of service, to their designated beneficiary or the estate as the case may be.
b. As leave, prior to retirement, subject to the following:
i) The minimum leave taken shall be one-half (1/2) day and the maximum twenty (20) days.
ii) Such leaves shall be subject to the approval of the department head and shall be taken during a period that will not affect the efficient operation of the department.
iii) Without limiting the right to apply for leave as provided above, up to ten (10) days gratuity leave may be taken coincident with commencement of maternity leave provided such days are requested at the time of making application for maternity leave.
Payment of Gratuity. The minimum leave which shall be taken shall be 40 hours and the maximum leave 160 hours. Gratuity leaves must be taken during a period that will not affect the efficient operation of the Department, and it shall be subject to the approval of the Head of the Department. Only one period of gratuity leave may be taken in a calendar year.

Payment of Gratuity. The employee is eligible for payment of gratuity on completion of five continuous years of service as per Gratuity Rules.

(a) In Cash:
(1) Upon retirement on or after attaining minimum retirement age, or
(2) Upon retirement with permanent disability, or
(3) Upon leaving the Board's employ after the completion of ten (10) or more years of service.
(b) As leave at any time subject to the following:
(1) Permission from the Operations Manager (or delegate) or the Human Resources Manager (or delegate) in the case of Cafeteria/Lunch Program employees.
(2) As time off on termination for any reason other than as described in (a) above.
Payment of Gratuity. (a) The earned gratuity will be paid when an employee leaves the service, providing the employee has completed at least three years' service in the Fire Department. This gratuity will be paid at the rate of pay in effect at the time of the member's severance of employment from the Department.
(b) Providing an employee has completed three (3) years' service with the Fire Department, such employee may elect the right, prior to the end of the year, to receive cash in lieu of accumulated gratuity days during the immediately following year at the rates in effect during the latter year.
(a) For the period from 2007 January 01 to and including 2009 December 31, instead of being entitled to the benefits and subject to the conditions contained in paragraphs 6.4(b)(1) and (2), each employee shall be credited with one (1) working day for each four (4) months, provided that deductions shall not exceed one (1) working day in any one (1) four-month period or for any one illness. In addition, any employee who is not absent on sick leave at all during each of the calendar years 2007, 2008, and 2009 shall be entitled to one (1) additional day's credit for each such year during which no absence occurs, thereby making a total of four (4) working days' credit for each such year.
(b) Commencing at 11.59 p.m. on 2009 December 31, the employees shall again be bound by the provisions of Articles 6.4(b)(1) and (2), unless on or before 2010 March 31 they agree in writing to reinstitute the provisions of Article 6.4(b)(4) herein for a further period.
