Leave Without Pay for Relocation of Spouse. (a) At the request of an employee, leave without pay for a period of up to one (1) year shall be granted to an employee whose spouse is permanently relocated, and up to five (5) years to an employee whose spouse is temporarily relocated.
(b) Leave without pay granted under this clause shall be deducted from the calculation of “continuous employment” for the purpose of calculating severance pay and vacation leave for the employee involved except where the period of such leave is less than three (3) months.
(c) Time spent on such leave which is for a period of more than three (3) months shall not be counted for pay increment purposes.

Employees on leave without pay for relocation of spouse or whose request for such leave was approved prior to the signing of this collective agreement, will have access to the five (5) year provision.
(b) Leave without pay granted under this clause shall be deducted from the calculation of continuous employment for the purpose of calculating severance pay and service for the purpose of calculating vacation leave for the employee involved except where the period of such leave is less than three (3) months.
Leave Without Pay for Relocation of Spouse. The Employer shall grant leave without pay for a period of one (1) year, at the request in writing of an employee whose spouse's position is permanently relocated or who accepts an appointment to another position either:
Leave Without Pay for Relocation of Spouse. (a) The Employer shall grant leave without pay for a period of one (1) year, at the request in writing of an indeterminate employee whose spouse's position is permanently relocated or who accepts an appointment to another position outside the indeterminate employee's headquarters area. If the indeterminate employee does not obtain another position within the one (1) year period, the indeterminate employee shall cease to be an employee at the end of approved period of leave without pay.
(b) Leave without pay granted under this Clause shall be deducted from the calculation of "continuous employment" for the purpose of calculating severance pay and annual leave for the employee involved, except where the period of such leave is less than three (3) months. Time spent on such leave, which is for a period of more than three (3) months, shall not be counted for pay increment purposes.
Leave Without Pay for Relocation of Spouse. C11.01 At the request of an employee, leave without pay for a period of up to one (1) year shall be granted to an employee whose spouse is temporarily relocated.
C11.02 Leave without pay granted under this clause shall be deducted from the calculation of "continuous employment" for the purpose of calculating severance pay and "service" for the purpose of calculating vacation leave for the employee involved except where the period of such leave is less than three (3) months. Time spent on such leave which is for a period of more than three (3) months shall not be counted for pay increment purposes.
Leave Without Pay for Relocation of Spouse. Any full-time or part-time employee whose spouse is being relocated/posted/transferred to another geographical location for work reasons may be granted relocation leave without pay for up to twelve (12) months, for the purpose of assisting them with their transition to another NPF position at their new location without a break in service, provided that they meet the following eligibility requirements:
(a) the Employee must submit a written request for relocation leave to
(b) the Employee must provide proof of the spouse’s relocation/posting/transfer;
(c) the Employee must provide advance written confirmation that they are voluntarily giving up rights to their substantive position effective the first (1st) day of their relocation leave (thus allowing their former position to be immediately filled on a permanent basis);
(d) the Employee must provide advance written confirmation that they will be deemed to have voluntarily resigned from the NPF employment effective the last day of they relocation leave in the event that they are not successful in obtaining another NPF position at the new location during their leave and
(e) the Employee must ensure their previous location has their current contact information. An employee may continue group benefits and pension coverage provided the Employee pays both the Employer’s and their share of premiums and contributions. The Employee shall, along with the request for relocation leave, notify NPF in writing of the options concerning the pension and group benefits coverage.An employee’s election to either continue or suspend group benefits and/or pension for the duration of the leave period is irrevocable and binding. An elected option cannot be changed after the leave has commenced. Length of service is retained but does not accrue during the leave

c) An employee who is granted leave without pay under the provisions of this Article shall be entitled to return to:
(i) his/her substantive position provided such leave does not exceed a one
(ii) a similar position at the equivalent classification if such position(s) is available, provided such leave does not exceed a three (3) year period.
