Mandatory Absences. Staff reductions may occur by mandatory absences (“MA”). A. An MA is defined as a staff reduction for all or part of a shift on a unit because of Medical Center projections of the staff needed for that unit and shift. B. The Medical Center will maintain an MA rotation list by job classifications. MAs will be rotated among employees in the same classification in the same department and shift provided that the remaining employees are qualified to perform the work to be done on the relevant shift. C.
