MARINE DISASTER AND MISHAP.
9.01 Any Employee who suffers loss of personal effects, clothing, navigational equipment and tools related to the operation of the vessel through wreck or marine disaster, or while in transit provided or paid for by the Company to or from home dock, shall be compensated by a payment of up to one (1) month’s basic pay subject to satisfactory proof of loss and in the event of loss of life this amount to be paid to the beneficiary.
MARINE DISASTER AND MISHAP. In addition, an additional two thousand dollars ($2,000.00) shall be available for loss of supplemental electronic equipment on continuous operating vessels.

Where the Company refuses to employ an Employee or discharges an Employee for medical reasons, the question of the Employee's fitness for full sea duties the category in which he is to be employed maybe referred to a competent medical authority, acceptable to the Company, the Guild and the Employee concerned for determination acceptable to the Company, the and the Employee concerned.

It is agreed that the Company has the right to have all Officers medically examined for fitness and any Officer found medically unfit for service at sea shall not be employed, or, if employed, may be dismissed. Medical examination shall be at the Company's expense. The Officer shall be compensated with one half of a calendar day's pay for each such examination except for medical. Where the Company refuses to employ an Officer or discharges an Officer for medical reasons, the The maximum time for instituting a grievance concerning demotion, suspension, dismissal and all other disciplinary matters shall be thirty (30) days from the date of demotion, suspension, dismissal or disciplinary matter. A Double Registered Letter shall be sent or delivered by hand to the Officer concerned, if he requests it. The maximum time for instituting a grievance concerning issues other than the above shall be ninety (90) days. 10.02 Where the Company refuses to employ an Employee or discharges an Employee for medical reasons, the question of the Employee's fitness for full sea duties in the category in which he is to be employed may be referred to a competent medical authority, acceptable to the Company, the Guild and the Employee concerned for determination acceptable to the Company, the Guild and the Employee concerned.
10.03 The Guild and the Company agree that Employee will abide by all the rules and regulations required by law with respect to drug testing.
10.04 The Company will pay up to one hundred twenty five dollars ($125.00) of the doctor’s charge for a Transport Canada . required medical exam for Continued Proficiency Certification.

In addition, an additional two thousand dollars ($2,000.00) shall be available for loss of supplemental electronic equipment on continuous operating vessels. The Company has the right to have all Officers medically examined for fitness, and any Officer found medically unfit for service will not be employed. Medical examinations will be at the Company's expense. Where an Officer is required to travel away from home for an examination, the Company will reimburse him for all travel expenses and further compensate the Officer one (1)calendar day's pay except for employment In the instance where the Officer is removed from his vessel (or not dispatched) to facilitate such an examination and it is found that the Officer was fit for sea duties, then the Company will reimburse such Officer for any loss of earnings and any associated travel costs. Where the Company refuses to employ and/or discharges the Officer for medical reasons arising from Clause above, the Officer will be examined by an independent third party Doctor acceptable to all Parties for final medical fitness determination to perform his duties. The Company pay up to one hundred twenty-five dollars ($125.00) of the Doctor's charge for a required medical exam for Continued Proficiency Certification. This amount will continue until October and then increase the amount to one hundred fifty dollars ($150.00)thereafter. Officers must supply the Company with proof of payment to be eligible for reimbursement.
