Common use of Method of Making Appointments Clause in Contracts

Method of Making Appointments. (a) In filling vacancies, appointment shall be made of the applicant with the greatest seniority from among those meeting the required qualifications to perform the duties of the position. Both parties recognize the principle of promotion within the service of the Employer and that job opportunity should increase in proportion to length of service. When the successful applicant is an internal applicant, the appointment shall be made within thirty (30) days of the closing of the posting. Where the Employer finds that it is not possible to make the appointment within thirty (30) days, they will consult with the Union.
