Notification of Illness. (a) In order to be eligible for sick leave benefits, the employee shall endeavour to provide to their designated individual as much notice as practical of their inability to report to work. Such notice must be given at least thirty (30) minutes before their regular shift is to commence, provided however, that this requirement is relaxed when the employee cannot reasonably contact the Employer or when the cause could not have reasonably been known. (b) If an illness occurs during the course of their shift and the employee feels that they must leave work, then the employee must make a reasonable effort to notify their immediate exempt supervisor or designate prior to leaving the workplace.
