Common use of Order of Layoff Clause in Contracts

Order of Layoff. Any layoff shall be effected within a class. The order of layoff shall be based on seniority within that classification and higher classes throughout the District. An employee with the least seniority within the class plus higher classes shall be laid off first. Seniority shall be based on the date of hire for the employee in the class plus higher classes. Date of hire means the first date of paid service of a regular employee.
