Common use of Other Unpaid Leave Clause in Contracts

Other Unpaid Leave. The Board may grant extended leaves of absence, without pay or benefits, for further study or other reasons. Such leaves, if granted, are granted only for the purpose stated in the Staff Member's request for the leave, and should the conditions stated change, the Staff Member is required to so inform the Board and to be prepared to return to their normal assignment, or some equivalent assignment that is available at that time. If such leave extends from one school year into the next, the Staff Member must inform the Board no later than April 15th of that school year if they will be unable to return to work on the previously granted date. Failure to so inform the Board shall be interpreted to be, in effect, a resignation from the Staff Member's employment with the District. The Board reserves the right to limit the total number of such leaves of absence granted in any one Contract Year.
