Common use of Other Unpaid Leave Clause in Contracts

Other Unpaid Leave. 1. A leave of absence without pay may be granted to permanent employees for personal or medical reasons. 2. A probationary employee may be granted a leave of absence without pay if the purpose is for medical reasons. 3. For other than medical reasons, initial leaves of absence without pay shall not be granted for more than one (1) year. 4. Leaves of absence without pay under this section may be extended for an additional period of time but shall not exceed a total of two (2) years, except as otherwise provided for by law.
