PATROL CAPTAINS. Patrol Captains – assume responsibility for the health and safety; behavior; and conduct of their respective patrols, and the Lifesavers and assets that form the composition of their patrol. Patrol Captains are to consistently review current beach safety measures, and immediately ratify initiatives in the event of a change in conditions. Patrol Captains are to continuously self-examine the effectiveness of their patrol, and actively seek opportunities for immediate improvement. Patrol Captains are to have superior knowledge of local hazards associated with all patrol areas within their scope of influence, and seek to educate other patrol members on effective methods to mitigate risk to all stakeholders, while encouraging the implementation of new ideas from other parties. Patrol Captains are to employ effective communication strategies, and ensure all patrol members are current with their understanding of both SLSWA and Club policies, procedures, ethics, and values. They are to promote calmness during emergency situations and, in conjunction with Operations Supervisors and SurfCom, coordinate effective emergency response procedures.

PATROL CAPTAINS. There shall be a Captain's vacation schedule, separate and apart from the Lieutenant's and Sergeant's schedules. The Chief shall determine the number of Captains that may be allowed off in each vacation period.

  • Sick Leave Charges An employee using sick leave shall be charged for only the number of hours that the employee was scheduled to work during the period of sick leave. Holidays that occur during sick leave periods shall be paid as a holiday and not charged as a sick leave day.

  • Sick Leave Donations Employees in the Unit as well as officers above the rank of sergeant and other non-bargaining unit employees in the Police Department may donate sick leave for the purpose of providing authorized sick leave to any Unit member who has exhausted all accrued annual, compensatory and sick leave. Sick leave means leave earned under Section A. of this Article. Where BellSouth uses IDLC ,if technically feasible and capacity does exist, BST will provide Al-Call with a Designed DS0 UVL by using alternative provisioning techniques including but not limited to such as “hairpinning” and DAC grooming. Alternative provisioning techniques will be provided at no additional cost to Al-Call . Hairpinning involves providing a DS0 signal from an IDLC-served loop to Al-Call ’s collocation equipment by using a dedicated pathway that traverses BellSouth’s central office switch. BellSouth will provide such DS0 signal to Al-Call by establishing a copper cross connect between the BellSouth switch and Al-Call ’s collocation equipment.
