Penalty Rates for Shift Work Definitions. For the purposes of this clause: Shift worker will mean an employee who is required to work all or part of their ordinary hours of work outside the spread of hours of 6.00a.m. - 6.00 p.m. on a rostered basis. Afternoon shift will mean a complete rostered shift of any number of hours which finishes at or after 7.00 p.m and before 12 midnight. Night Shift will mean a completed rostered shift which finishes at or after midnight. Day shift will mean a shift that commences earlier than 12.00 noon and finishes before 7.00p.m. Rostered day off will mean the entitlement to a day off. Programmed day off will mean the normal days off duty provided for in accordance with the rostering provisions contained in this clause and relate to shift work. The work cycle of a full-time employee will be either: for an employee working not more than eight ordinary hours on each shift, 152 hours within a work cycle not exceeding twenty eight consecutive days. In such a case, no full-time employee will be required to work more than 80 ordinary hours per fortnight;
