PENSION/BENEFITS WHILE ON MATERNITY LEAVE. Pension/Benefits will only apply to the extent of the employee's coverage at the time of commencing leave. During the period of maternity leave the University will continue to pay the benefit premiums normally paid for the employee. Should the employee wish to continue Optional Life coverage, post-dated cheques shall be required from the employee for the period of leave to be covered. If the employee is participating in the Group RRSP Plan (Clarica), and if the employee wishes to continue with contributions to her Group RRSP during maternity leave, the University will continue to match that contribution to a maximum of six and one-half percent (6.5%) of the employee’s gross monthly salary in affect at the commencement of maternity leave. Post-date cheques will be required from the employee to cover the cost of the employee’s share of RRSP contributions. If the employee is participating in the Municipal Pension Plan, then the Municipal Pension Plan rules that apply to maternity leaves will be followed.

  • Maternity Leave Allowance ‌ (a) An employee who qualifies for maternity leave pursuant to Clause 21.1, shall be paid a maternity leave allowance in accordance with the Supplemental Employment Benefit (SEB) Plan. In order to receive this allowance, the employee must provide to the Employer, proof that she has applied for and is eligible to receive employment insurance benefits pursuant to the Employment Insurance Act. An employee disentitled or disqualified from receiving employment insurance benefits is not eligible for maternity leave allowance. (b) Pursuant to the Supplemental Employment Benefit (SEB) Plan, the maternity leave allowance will consist of 15 weekly payments equivalent to the difference between the employment insurance gross benefits and any other earnings received by the employee and 85% of the employee's basic pay.
