Per DiemOccasional Nurse. Defined as a nurse who works less than twenty-four 12 (24) hours per week. A per diemn occasional nurse must be available to work at least 13 six (6) shifts in a three (3) month period of time to retain status as an occasional per 14 diem nurse. In addition, an per diemoccasional nurse must be available to work one (1) 15 major holiday (Christmas, New Year's Day, Thanksgiving) and one (1) minor holiday 16 each year. Low census days shall be counted as days worked for purposes of this 17 section. In periods of prolonged low census, when the Hospital is unable to schedule an 18 per diem occasional nurse on days they areshe/he is available, the minimum work 19 requirement will be waived. Per diem nurses will earn job placement seniority annually 20 when they meet these requirements.

  • Per Diem Nurse A nurse in a nursing position who does not qualify as a classified staff nurse. Employment will conform to the rules on temporary employment.
