Per Diem Nurse. A nurse employed to work on an intermittent basis to supplement the regular work force on a scheduled or unscheduled basis. Per diem nurses will be placed on the schedule when initially posted only to cover for unfilled, posted positions or for absent nurses. They must submit their availability dates by email to their home unit fourteen (14) days in advance of the posting of the schedule. A nurse must remain available, until the schedule has been posted, on the dates of availability the nurse has submitted in accordance with the requirements below.
Per Diem Nurse. A nurse in a nursing position who does not qualify as a classified staff nurse. Employment will conform to the rules on temporary employment. Per diem nurses are temporary employees not covered by the terms of this labor agreement. The Association will be provided with quarterly reports on the use of per diem nurses used by unit and number of hours for the period covered by the report.
Per Diem Nurse. See Article 30
Per Diem Nurse. A registered nurse who determines his/her own work schedule as to hours and days of work per month, and who regularly works less than the required two (2) out of four (4) weekends. Per diem nurses will be paid a ten percent (10%) salary premium in lieu of benefits (including vacation, sick leave, holiday time; medical, dental, vision, life insurance; short and long term disability; paid education leave) and shall be entitled to the next increment step for 1664 hours worked. Per diem nurses shall be eligible for shift differential, certification pay, on-call/callback when worked, overtime when worked, holiday pay when worked, weekend bonus, charge pay, BSN/MSN, preceptor pay and consecutive day premium. Per diem nurses shall be scheduled to work at least two (2) shifts [eight (8) hour, ten (10) hour, or twelve (12) hour] per schedule (including Friday night through Sunday night) to include one (1) contract holiday per year.
5.7.1 A full or part-time RN may request a change to per diem status. Such RNs shall retain previously accrued seniority and benefits in the event of return to regular status. Such accruals shall not apply while in per diem status. A written reply to grant or deny the request shall be given by the Employer within thirty (30) days of requesting such change of status.
5.7.2 Per diem nurses who feel that their work schedule during the previous four (4) month period calls for a review of the assigned positions in a unit shall have the right to request such a review by the Nurse Practice Committee which shall make a recommendation whether an increase in FTE within the unit is warranted. A final determination shall be made by the designated Nurse Executive. Hours worked as relief for sick leave or leave of absence of another nurse will not be considered a basis for an adjustment in unit FTEs.
Per Diem Nurse. A nurse hired to work during any period when additional work requires a temporarily augmented work force or in the event of an emergency or authorized leave of absence. Per diem nurses shall be paid a sixteen percent (16%) premium in accordance with the wage rates set forth in Article 8 of this Agreement. Per diem nurses reclassified to full-time or part-time status shall be given credit for previous hours worked in the accrual of all benefits and longevity steps. Full-time or part-time nurses reclassified to per diem status shall retain their prior seniority and longevity steps for pay purposes plus a sixteen percent (16%) premium in lieu of benefits.
Per Diem Nurse. A Registered Nurse who is hired to work during any period when additional work of any nature requires a temporarily augmented work force.
Per Diem Nurse. A nurse without an assigned FTE employed to work on an intermittent basis or during any period when additional work of any nature requires a temporarily augmented work force or in the event of an emergency or employee absenteeism. Per diem nurses may be scheduled on an on call basis. Per diem nurses shall be paid in accordance with the wage rates set forth in Article 8 of this Agreement plus a fifteen percent (15%) wage differential. Per diem nurses shall receive longevity steps and shall be eligible for standby pay, callback pay, shift differentials, certification pay and weekend premium pay. Per diem employees are not eligible for medical and dental insurance, but may participate in the retirement plan. A full-time or part-time nurse who changes to per diem status shall retain seniority and benefits pending return to regular status. Seniority shall not apply while on per diem status. After return to full-time or part-time status, previously accrued seniority and benefit accruals shall be reinstated for wage and benefit eligibility purposes. Per diem nurses may be pre-scheduled for a shift only after regularly scheduled nurses assigned to that unit have had the opportunity to sign up for additional (non-overtime) shift(s). Per diem nurses will not be regularly utilized in lieu of filling or creating regular full-time and/or part-time positions. In the event of low census, per diem nurses will be cancelled in accordance with Article 7, Low Census.
Per Diem Nurse. A nurse who is not regularly scheduled, but works at the convenience of the Hospital. Per Diem nurses are obligated to work a minimum of four shifts per calendar month, including one weekend, if the Hospital needs them. Per Diem nurses will also be scheduled by the manager to work one holiday per year. Every other year the holiday assigned will be Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve or Christmas Day according to departmental needs. If a Per Diem nurse has a shift cancelled pursuant to Article 7.G, such cancelled shift will count towards the minimum obligation of four shifts per calendar month. Per Diem nurses will receive overtime for hours worked over forty
Per Diem Nurse. 4.6.1 A per diem nurse is a nurse who is hired to work during any period when additional work of any nature requires a temporarily augmented workforce. Per diem nurses shall be available to work one weekend out of each four successive weekends. Per diem nurses shall work at least one (1) holiday each year and shall be available to work at least two (2) different shifts.
4.6.2 Per diem nurses shall be scheduled to work after all available full-time and part-time nurses have been regularly scheduled, provided the skill level of the per diem nurse is adequate for the area assigned. Regular status nurses reclassified to per diem status shall retain their prior longevity step for pay purposes, plus a premium as defined in Section 4.6.3. Per diem nurses shall begin accruing time toward longevity step increases based upon completion of each 2080 hours of work. Per diem nurses shall not accrue seniority. The Medical Center will track per diem hours worked for longevity step increases. Per diem nurses will endeavor to notify the Medical Center when their hours have reached the 2080 to be eligible for longevity step increases. Step increases will be implemented on the nurse’s next anniversary date.
Per Diem Nurse. A Nurse whose job status is "per diem," which means that the nurse is assigned by the Medical Center to work on an intermittent or unpredictable basis, as needed by the Medical Center. To maintain per diem status, a per diem nurse must make good faith reasonable efforts to be available to work at times needed by the Medical Center, for a minimum of the following (unless otherwise agreed to, in writing, by the Medical Center and the nurse) (a) one shift per pay period, including at least one weekend shift per month; (b) two (2) of the Medical Center- designated holidays. Per diem nurses will provide their shift availability according to the scheduling guidelines applicable to nurses.
2.6.1 Per Diem nurses hired after December 31, 2011 will be required to be available 48 hours per six-week schedule and two (2) of the Medical Center-designated holidays, and, in departments that are open on weekends, at least one weekend shift per month (unless otherwise agreed to, in writing, by the Medical Center and the nurse).
