OCCASIONAL TEACHER LIST. 16.01 The Board shall establish an Occasional Teacher’s list. This list shall mean the total of any sub lists kept by the Board’s Human Resources Department. 16.02 To be eligible for inclusion on the Occasional Teachers’ List, an Occasional Teacher must satisfy the requirements of the Education Act and the Ontario College of Teachers’ Act and accompanying regulations. Nothing herein shall prevent the Board from employing uncertified Teachers in the classroom or specialty areas in the case of Teacher shortages. 16.03 Prior to being placed on the Occasional Teachers’ List, an Occasional Teacher must first be approved based on a Board interview and also submit proof of College of Teachers’ membership and all other Board required documentation. 16.04 Once accepted for placement on the Occasional Teachers’ List, the Occasional Teacher shall: (a) select the identified geographic area or geographic areas (e.g. KitchenerWaterloo, Cambridge, rural schools) (b) elect to be placed on a “specialty list” provided the Occasional Teacher holds the appropriate qualifications and/or (c) select one or more of the following divisions: Primary Junior Intermediate elementary Intermediate secondary and Senior with subject specification (d) specify days and time of availability. (a) Work shall be distributed on rotational basis in accordance with elections made in 16.05. (b) The needs of schools can be accommodated where daily Occasional Teachers are required to replace Teachers who are involved in the Mount Xxxx program, serving a committee, principal / staff relief etc., on a regular / frequent basis with the approval of Human Resources Administrator to make arrangements to use the same daily Occasional Teacher on the basis of providing continuity for the Educational Program. 16.06 When an Occasional Teacher is called during the day in an emergency situation, the Occasional Teacher who responds to the call will not be skipped in the regular rotation. 16.07 Normally placement shall be assigned between 6:00 pm and 10:30 p.m. and between 6:00 a.m. and 8:00 a.m. unless in case of an emergency. 16.08 An Occasional teacher will inform the Human Resources Department no later than August 1st of each year of their intention to remain on the Occasional Teacher list for the following school year.

This list shall mean the total of any sub-lists kept by the Board's Human Resources Department. 12.02 To be eligible for inclusion on the Occasional Teachers' List, an Occasional Teacher must satisfy the requirements of the Ontario College of Teachers, the Education Act, and the regulations. 12.03 Prior to being placed on the Occasional Teachers' List, an applicant must submit proof of certification and all other required documentation. 12.04 In order for an Occasional Teacher to be accepted for placement on the Occasional Teachers' List, the Occasional Teacher shall: (a) select a geographic area or geographic areas (b) elect to be placed on a "Specialty List" provided the Occasional Teacher holds the appropriate qualifications and/or
OCCASIONAL TEACHER LIST. 11.01 The Occasional Teacher list shall consist of an “A” List and a “B” List. The Occasional Teachers’ “A” List shall be limited to 20% of the total number of teachers in the local Elementary and Secondary Teacher Bargaining Units of OECTA as of October 31st of each year. (a) All Occasional Teachers on the Board’s Occasional Teacher List as at April 13, 2005, including Occasional Teachers on leaves of absence, shall be placed and remain on the “A” list. (b) New Occasional Teachers shall be placed on the “B” list. Teachers on the “B” List shall move from the “B” list in according with seniority, but no teacher on the “B” list shall move to the “A” list until the complement of the “A” List is less than twenty (20) per cent of the Full Time Equivalent (FTE) total of Elementary and Secondary teachers in the employ of the Board. (c) Thereafter the Occasional Teachers “A” list shall be limited to twenty (20) percent of the total number of Teachers in the local Elementary and Secondary Bargaining Units of OECTA as of October 31st of each year. 11.02 Occasional Teachers who are in excess of the numbers required in Article 11.01 c) shall be removed from the “A” List at the end of the school year in order of seniority as defined in Article 14. For further clarification the least senior occasional teacher shall be transferred to the “B” list. 11.03 The Board may remove an Occasional Teacher's name from the Occasional Teachers List providing written notification has been sent to the Occasional Teacher and the Association five (5) working days prior to the intended removal: i) Due to just cause under Article 5.04 (a). ii) Upon alleged unsatisfactory performance provided in writing by two (2) or more principals to the Board and to the Occasional Teacher. The appropriate Supervisory Officer shall provide the Occasional Teacher with written notice of the decision of the Board. iii) If the Occasional Teacher refuses two (2) or more assignments within a period of twenty (20) working days and does not provide reasonable grounds for refusing such assignments; iv) If the Occasional Teacher cannot be contacted for assignments in the normal manner on two (2) occasions within twenty (20) working days. v) If the Occasional Teacher fails to submit a properly completed Renewal Form in accordance with Article 13. vi) Upon written notification of the resignation of an Occasional Teacher. 11.04 Except for Article 11.03 i), no Occasional Teacher shall be removed from the Board's List u...
OCCASIONAL TEACHER LIST. 9.01 The Employer shall provide electronic access to a list comprising members of the Bargaining Unit who are available for occasional teaching assignments in elementary schools. (a) For each Bargaining Unit Occasional Teacher whose name is entered on the Occasional Teacher List, the database will include the following information: Name, address, telephone number, subject(s) which the teacher is qualified and willing to teach, and preferences regarding specific school(s). Teachers may also indicate the subjects for which they do not hold formal qualifications (e.g. French) but for which they feel capable of teaching. (b) It is the responsibility of the Occasional Teacher to ensure that the information on the List is up-to-date and accurate. 9.03 An Occasional Teacher will be removed from the list if the Occasional Teacher has not worked eight (8) days per year from May 1 to April 30. Effective with the implementation of the call out system the purging requirement will increase from eight (8) days to ten (10) days. Part-time contract teachers or teachers otherwise employed by the Board who are on the Occasional Teacher List are excluded from this process. Notwithstanding the above, members of the Local who show proof of days paid for Union/Board business shall have these days credited towards the above provisions. An Occasional Teacher, whose name has been removed from the list, shall be notified that they have been removed from the list. Reapplication to the list will be in accordance with Article 10.01. 9.04 The Local shall be provided with access to the database including the ability to identify teachers newly added to the list. The Local shall be notified of deletions to the List following each purge period. 9.05 Occasional Teachers covered by this Collective Agreement will not incur registration/administration or other similar costs associated with accessing occasional teacher assignments through the Board’s electronic database. Occasional teachers will continue to be responsible for the personal computer costs related to accessing Board systems.
OCCASIONAL TEACHER LIST. Membership on the List 6.1 An Occasional Teacher must meet all legal requirements to be entitled to teach in Ontario to be eligible for inclusion on the Occasional Teacher List. All certification and required documentation must be on file with the Board before a candidate’s name is placed on the Occasional Teacher List. 6.2 Only those Occasional Teachers whose names are on the Occasional Teacher List shall be called for short-term and long-term occasional teaching assignments except in emergency circumstances as recognized in the Education Act and Regulations. 6.3 The List, which is distinct from the Calling List that the Board makes available to each secondary school, shall provide the following information for each Occasional Teacher: name, telephone number, address and qualifications. 6.4 The List shall indicate which Occasional Teachers are on Leaves of Absence or long-term occasional teaching assignments as known by the Board at the time it is published, and the expected expiry date of the said leaves or assignments. 6.5 An Occasional Teacher shall notify the Human Resource Services Department, in writing, of any changes of name, address and/or telephone number required by the Board to contact the Occasional Teacher. The Board shall provide a copy to the Union.

OCCASIONAL TEACHER LIST. 8.01 To be eligible for inclusion on the Occasional Teacher List, an Occasional Teacher must be qualified to teach in Ontario and maintain membership in good standing in the Ontario College of Teachers. 8.02 The Occasional Teacher List shall show the names, addresses and telephone numbers of such Occasional Teachers, and the subjects and/or divisions which the Occasional Teacher is qualified and willing to teach. 8.03 At the time an Occasional Teacher is accepted for inclusion on the Occasional Teacher List, the Occasional Teacher must select, from among the geographic areas designated as available by the Board, geographic areas and schools within which the Occasional Teacher wishes to accept occasional teaching assignments. Such Occasional Teachers shall then be placed on the sub-list for that designated geographic area. Notwithstanding the Occasional Teacher's selection of a particular geographic area or areas, or particular schools, the Board may request an Occasional Teacher to work in another geographic area or school if required. 8.04 It is the responsibility of each Occasional Teacher to notify the Human Resources Services Department of the Board, in writing, of any change of address or change of telephone number needed to contact the Occasional Teacher regarding teaching assignments.
OCCASIONAL TEACHER LIST. 12.01 (a) The Board will provide to the Union President, by October 15th of each year, lists of occasional teachers indicating the name, address, telephone number, certificates, preferred subjects/ divisions/grades and the geographical areas where that teacher has indicated he/she would teach.
OCCASIONAL TEACHER LIST. 13.01 The Employer will maintain the Occasional Teacher list, acknowledging both the Employer’s requirement to staff schools and the Union’s need to maximize work for Occasional Teachers. Both the Employer and the Union agree to jointly monitor the List. 13.02 a) There will be a maximum of one hundred and forty (140) Occasional Teachers on the Occasional Teacher List. If the Superintendent of Human Resources or designate determines that the number of Occasional Teachers available does not meet the needs of the system, additional Occasional Teachers may be added to the list following consultation with the President of the Occasional Teacher Branch of District 14, OSSTF. It is understood that Occasional Teachers on Long-Term assignment, leave of absence, or who have a regular part-time teaching assignment with the school board, shall not be counted as part of the maximum.
