Periodic Leave. Periodic Leave On “out of town” projects the Employer shall provide leave every thirty-five (35) calendar days. When leave is desired in accordance with the following terms, the Employer shall provide first class transportation and expenses to the point of departure and back to the job. The phrase “out of town projects” contained in the Agreement shall be defined as projects where an employee’s travel distance is prohibitive to returning home daily or on weekends. Projects of this nature will be discussed with the Union prior to the commencement of the job to establish turnaround provisions. The extent of the leave shall be for a minimum of five (5) days to a maximum of one (1) week or a number of days mutually agreed between the employee and the Employer’s representative. The timing of the leave shall also be decided by mutual Agreement. In no event will an employee receive leave unless they actually return to their place of departure. Employees qualifying for leave shall be returned to the transportation terminal nearest the employee’s domicile except members from other locals or out of province employees who shall be returned to the point of dispatch within the Province of British Columbia. There shall be no cash payment in lieu of periodic leave unless mutually agreed between the Union and the Employer.
