Recognition of Employment Standards. 27.01 An employee shall be entitled to a short-tenn leave of absence without pay under the following conditions and the employer may request proof in support thereof: • Serious accident involving a member of his immediate family (parent, spouse, child). • Personal illness or accident, except for 27.06. • At the request of the union an employee is designated by the union to participate in legitimate union business. 27.01.01 When death occurs in an employee's immediate family, the employee, on request, will be excused for up to two (2) days immediately following the death. If any of the two (2) days are working days, the employee will be paid eight (8) hours pay for each day. These hours will be considered as time worked.   • Statement of Employment An employer shall, in the event of termination of employment, provide upon request to the employee who has been terminated a written statement specifying the period of employment and the classification or type of work performed by the employee.
