Prep Coverage. Contract teachers assigned by the District to serve as occasional substitutes during their preparation period shall be compensated at the rate of $20.00 per preparation period, not to exceed $20.00 per day. Whenever possible, the immediate supervisor or building administrator, must be notified of and approve of the substitution in advance. If advance notice is not possible, the immediate supervisor or building administrator will be notified as soon as possible.

Prep Coverage. For the 2021-22 school year, the cap for all time accrued for teachers covering preps (presently two (2) days per school year) shall be eliminated. This coverage time is accrued for lost preparation time. The accrued comp days shall be cashed out at semester and the end of the school year. The comp days will be treated as personal leave. Continuous "claims made" coverage will be acceptable in lieu of "tail" coverage, provided its retroactive date is on or before the effective date of this contract.

  • Class Coverage Teachers, including but not limited to classroom teachers, special area teachers, and clinicians, shall not be required to take another teacher’s classes except in an emergency. Examples of an emergency are the following: a sudden illness of a teacher during the school day, or awaiting the arrival of an obtained substitute, and other situations mutually accepted by the teacher and the principal.
