Probationary Sergeant. A newly promoted sergeant shall be on probationary status for 6 months from the date of promotion. During this probationary period the Director of Public Safety may determine that the probationary sergeant does not demonstrate the ability to perform the required work. The decision of the Director is not subject to Grievance procedure. The staff member shall also have the option to elect to return to his or her former position during this probationary period.
