PROCEDURE FOR GRIEVANCES AFFECTING A GROUP OF EMPLOYEES. 1. The Association may elect to file a grievance on behalf of two or more employees. The facts and issues of the grievance must be the same. In cases where the issues identified in the grievance affect more employees than are identified as grievants, the parties may agree that the remedy may be applied to those employees upon their consent, if needed. 2. The Association shall file the grievance in writing with the CAO, or designee, within twenty (20) business days following the day the issue arose. To the extent possible, the filing shall include the issue of the grievance, proposed solution(s), the names of the employees impacted by the issue, and the specific facts pertaining to each grievant. All employees participating in the grievance must waive their respective rights to file an individual grievance on the same issue by completing an individual grievance waiver form prior to the meeting with the CAO or designee. 3. The CAO, or designee, shall provide written notification to the Employee Relations Division of the receipt of the grievance. The CAO, or designee, shall meet with the Association within twenty (20) business days of receipt of the grievance to review the facts, solicit information on the proposed solution(s), or consider other appropriate administrative procedures. The CAO, or designee, may include CAO managers who have knowledge of the grievance issues and/or representatives from the Employee Relations Division in the meeting with the Association. The CAO, or designee, shall prepare a written response within twenty (20) business days of the meeting.
