Reasons for. Layoffs The Employer shall determine whether a layoff shall occur, the timing of the layoffs, the number of employees to be laid off, and in which classification layoffs will occur. A reduction in the number of hours scheduled in a workweek for some or all employees shall not constitute a layoff. Employees may be laid off as a result of a lack of work, lack of funds, reorganization, or job abolishment. The Employer agrees to hold a labor-management meeting in advance of layoffs or job abolishments.
