Common use of Recurrent Sick Leave Clause in Contracts

Recurrent Sick Leave. (a) An employee who returns to work following an absence on sick leave pursuant to Articles 17.5, 17.6, or 17.7, and has a recurrence of the same illness or non‐ occupational injury within thirty (30) working days of returning to work, shall commence sick leave on the appropriate sick leave plan at the point reached prior to return to work. (b) A recurrence of the same illness or non‐occupational injury after an employee has actively returned to work for a period longer than thirty (30) working days shall be considered to be a separate sick leave incident and the employee shall commence sick leave under the Short Term Plan.
