Common use of REGULAR WORKDAY Clause in Contracts

REGULAR WORKDAY. 1. The regular day's work for all employees shall be worked within nine (9) consecutive hours, and all employees shall receive one (1) hour off for lunch at approximately the middle of the working shift. No eight (8) hour employee shall be scheduled for more than five (5) hours or less than three (3) hours before a meal break. Where night stocking crews are required to work behind closed doors, a one-half (1/2) hour lunch period may be instituted. Notwithstanding the above, in a given store, deviations in lunch schedules may be made upon mutual agreement between an employee and the Employer with the approval of the Union. 2. There shall be no split shift except as provided in Article 6, Section P. Where the operation does not permit more than one (1) employee in any single shift, a one-half (1/2) hour lunch period may be allowed in order to permit continuous coverage of the store and permit the employee to work a full eight (8) hour day. Relief for lunch periods shall be handled in the same manner as the relief for rest periods.
