Relief Shifts. No penalty payment under this section shall arise from employees working relief shifts if the starting times for the shifts worked by the employee varies by two (2) hours or less during the workweek. In any relief shift, it is intended that the relief employee will normally have a minimum of sixteen (16) hours off duty between scheduled shifts or fourteen (14) hours for employees working a 4-10. An employee working a relief shift works other employees' assignments and shall not be permanently assigned as a relief employee. The "extra day" on a relief shift shall have hours of work identical to one of the shifts of the employees whom the employee has relieved during the week. A relief shift under this section shall not create a penalty under the definition of work day in Section 14.4
