Religious Observations. 24.1 Up to 15 hours per year shall be granted by the Administration, without the loss of pay, for religious observances provided that attendance at school on such days would prevent the teacher from participating in a specific religious practice on that day. Should any question arise concerning the application of this contract provision, the teacher’s clergy shall be considered the proper authority for resolution. In all instances of absence for religious observances, notice must be given to the Principal at least 48 hours prior to such absence. Principals may request teachers to provide a list of anticipated religious observance requests at the beginning of the school year. For any additional hours beyond the maximum provided by this Article, teachers may elect to use personal leave or request unpaid leave.
