Formal Observation. The instructional employee and the principal/administrator shall review using the mid-year Reflection Questions in the evaluation manual – Student Achievement Outcomes and make adjustments as needed to increase the likelihood of a positive goal outcome.
Formal Observation. 12.5.2.1 The purpose of formal observation is to commend outstanding accomplishment, identify deficiencies, and improve performance.
12.5.2.2 The evaluator shall conduct a minimum of one (1) classroom/workplace formal observation during the school year for permanent unit members and a minimum of two (2) classroom/workplace formal observations for probationary and temporary unit members during the school year.
12.5.2.2.1 At least one formal observation shall occur during the first semester, and each formal observation shall be sufficient in length to observe at least one lesson.
12.5.2.3 A conference shall be held within ten (10) working days following a formal observation.
12.5.2.4 The formal observation notes shall be provided to the unit member.
12.5.2.4.1 Upon request by the unit member to the evaluator, the unit member shall be provided a copy of the write up of the Formal Observation at least one (1) working day prior to the Observation Conference.
12.5.2.5 The unit member may submit a written response to the formal observation.
12.5.2.6 In the event that the evaluator identifies areas of Unsatisfactory Performance during a formal observation, the unit member shall receive: • A written description of the areas of Unsatisfactory Performance, including recommendations to assist in those areas; • Assistance in implementing such recommendations, including feedback; • Release time, when appropriate, for the certificated unit member to visit and observe other similar classes; and • A second formal observation no later than March 1, if areas of unsatisfactory performance are identified in the first semester formal observation.
12.5.2.6.1 A conference shall be held within ten (10) working days following the second formal observation.
12.5.2.6.2 The formal observation notes shall be provided to the unit member.
12.5.2.6.3 The unit member may submit a written response to the formal observation.
Formal Observation. 2 -Observation of a complete and uninterrupted lesson. Required for teachers who score 29 points or less in Domains 2 & 3 from the first observation or by teacher request. This is an announced observation in which the teacher has been given a date range of no more than two weeks.
Formal Observation. Each employee or SUCCESS employee shall be formally observed by his/her employer for the purpose of evaluation at least two times during his/her first semester of employment, at least one time during the employee’s or SUCCESS employee’s second semester of employment, and at least once every year for the remaining period of probation. His/her principal or appropriate supervisor shall observe each employee or SUCCESS employee no longer on probation at least once every three years for the purpose of formal evaluation. Observations made for Career Level III-B employees may be substituted for this formal observation at the discretion of the Employer.
Formal Observation. His/her Employer for the purpose of evaluation shall formally observe each employee at least one time during each semester of employment. Following two successive satisfactory evaluations, the employee will be observed at least once every three years.
Formal Observation. The term “Formal Observation: shall be defined as an evaluator observing a teacher’s performance and creating a record of matters observed, and an analysis of the activity(s) observed and memorialized. The length of the formal observation will be determined by the evaluator and span enough time to reasonably assess the teacher’s performance. The formal observation will include a pre- and post-observation conference.
Formal Observation a. Provisional employees shall have at least one prearranged formal observation conducted within the first ninety (90) days of the school year. First year teachers must have two thirty minute observations within the first ninety (90) days of the school year. The total annual observation time cannot be less than (90) minutes. Each provisional staff member must have two thirty (30) minute observations per year with the remainder of the required ninety (90) minutes comprised of mini-observations or an additional formal observation. An employee in provisional status as defined in RCW 28A.405.220 shall be observed at least three times in the performance of his or her duties and the total observation time for the school year shall not be less than ninety (90) minutes. Documented evidence gathered through informal observations must be communicated to the teacher.
b. Non-provisional (30-minute formal and 30-minute accumulative)
c. The observations will occur no later than five (5) working days after the planning meeting (barring extenuating circumstances).
d. Observations will not take place the first week of the school year, the last day before or after a break or on the day following an absence of the employee unless mutually agreed upon.
e. The evaluator will document all formal observations using the negotiated form and provide the information to the employee within three (3) working days following the observation.
f. The teacher shall be provided the opportunity to submit additional evidence to aid in the assessment of the teacher’s professional performance against the instructional framework rubric, especially for those criteria not observed in the classroom. The evidence provided by the teacher shall be incorporated on the negotiated form prior to the post-observation conference, and be used to determine the final evaluation score.
Formal Observation. The evaluator shall schedule and conduct at least one formal observation during the school year. The unit member shall submit a lesson plan based on the RBUSD Essential Elements of Lesson Planning prior to any scheduled formal observation. Formal observations shall last no less than thirty (30) minutes. Within ten (10) working days of a formal observation, the evaluator shall provide both feedback on the lesson as well as an opportunity to engage in dialogue about the feedback.
Formal Observation. A scheduled observation of at least thirty (30) minutes.
Formal Observation. A formal observation assesses an employee’s performance observed at the specific time period noted on the form. Only observed performance is assessed. Formal observations will be conducted for a minimum of thirty (30) minutes and shall include a pre- and post-conference.
