A Respirator Allowance clause provides for additional compensation or benefits to employees who are required to use respirators as part of their job duties. Typically, this allowance covers the costs associated with purchasing, maintaining, or replacing respirators, or it may be a fixed stipend added to the employee's pay. Respirator Allowance. (a) Employees working in an environment which requires the mandatory wearing of full protective equipment which includes hood and air line respirator, shall be paid an allowance as set out at item 17 of Schedule 3B per hour whilst required to wear such protective equipment.
(b) Employees who, because of the nature of the work, are required to wear respirators for four hours or more in a Shift shall be paid as set out at item 16 of Schedule 3B extra per Shift.
Respirator Allowance. Where required to use a full-face respirator for spray painting or in an enclosed space an allowance of $0.58 per hour shall be paid. A two-tier system or payments will apply:
Respirator Allowance. 44.1 An allowance will be payable to all people whose job is in a lead area. The allowance is in recognition of the respiratory protection requirements of the lead areas. It will only be payable while the person is rostered in the lead area and will cease immediately if they cease working in the lead area, except as provided for in Section 43.
44.2 The allowance forms part of the all purpose rate and is set at 25 cents per hour.
44.3 This allowance or the loss of it will not be used as a basis to oppose transfers between departments.
