Second Opinion. In any case where the Employer has reason to doubt the validity of the certification as outlined above, the Employer may require, at the Employer's expense, if not covered by insurance, that the eligible employee obtain the opinion of a second health care provider designated or approved by the Employer concerning any information certified by the original certification. The provider of the second opinion shall not be employed on a regular basis by the Employer.
Second Opinion. A member is entitled to a second opinion from a qualified health professional within the network or, if a network provider is not available to provide a second opinion, the Contractor must arrange for a second opinion by a non-participating provider outside of the network. Except for allowed cost-sharing, the member is not responsible for the cost of obtaining a second opinion.
Second Opinion. If the Superintendent or his/her designee has reason to doubt the validity of a medical certification, the Superintendent or his/her designee may require, in writing, the employee to obtain a second opinion at the BSC's expense. The Superintendent or his/her designee is permitted to designate the health care provider to furnish the second opinion, but the selected health care provider may not be employed on a regular basis by the BSC. Any contacts under this paragraph between the Superintendent or his/her designee or his/her health care provider and the designated second opinion health care provider shall be in writing.
Second Opinion. In certain cases, the insurance covers consultation with a relevant medical specialist if you: • Have a life-threatening or particularly serious disease or injury. • Are faced with the choice of receiving particularly risky treatment, which may be life-threatening or result in permanent injury. If we consider that you should be offered a second opinion, we will refer you to a relevant medical specialist in the public or private healthcare system. If you are facing a difficult decision or if there is uncer- tainty regarding your diagnosis or form of treatment, we offer advisory consultation with our doctors and nurses by telephone. This also applies if two doctors disagree about your diagnosis or form of treatment (third opinion).
Second Opinion. If an employee’s physician recommends non-emergency surgery or procedure (on an in-patient basis), the employee may be required to receive another opinion, at no extra cost to that employee. If the second opinion does not confirm the need for surgery, the employee or dependent may elect to obtain a third opinion. The insurance program will pay for such third opinion.
Second Opinion. If a second opinion with regard to the employee’s occupational disability is requested, the employer will, pending the decision of the UWV, following on from the first 52 weeks of occupational disability and for no more than one month, supplement the wage to 100% of the wage the employee would have received if he had been fit for work.
Second Opinion. If the beneficiary requests, the PIHP must provide for a second opinion from a qualified health care professional within the network, or arrange for the ability of the beneficiary to obtain one outside the network, at no cost to the beneficiary.
Second Opinion. The MCO, consistent with the scope of the MCO’s benefit package, must provide for a second opinion from a qualified health care professional within the network. The MCO shall arrange for the member to obtain a second opinion outside the network, at no cost to the member, if the MCO does not have a health professional qualified to provide a second opinion.
Second Opinion. If the Guild believes that the conclusions of the doctor are in error, it may obtain a second examination from a qualified doctor at its own expense. The results of this examination shall be provided to the employee exclusively.
Second Opinion. The College may require an employee to obtain another medical opinion concerning the employee’s illness or injury from a physician chosen by the College, at the College's expense.
