Common use of Shift Cancellation Clause in Contracts

Shift Cancellation. (a) If a nurse’s scheduled tour for visiting nursing is cancelled with less than two (2) hours notice in advance of the starting time of the scheduled shift for visiting nursing, she will receive two (2) hours pay at her regular rate. A cancellation of all or part of a single shift shall not be considered a layoff. (b) In the event that it becomes necessary to cancel a nurse’s shift, shifts of part-time nurses will be cancelled before those of a full-time nurse. Shift cancellation will also be done in the reverse order of seniority wherever possible.
