SKILLED TRADES. 19.01 The purpose of this Skilled Trades Clause shall be for defining seniority provisions and working conditions in all commonly recognized skilled trades classifications. 19.02 All employees in the skilled trades are subject to the provisions of the collective agreement, except as otherwise specifically covered in these Skilled Trades Clauses. 19.03 Skilled trades, for the purpose of this agreement, shall be those trades and classifications listed below: Millwright 19.04 Employees presently working in the trades listed in 19.03 above, (as of July 15th, 1980) shall have their total plant seniority credited and will be placed on a skilled trades seniority list in order. Seniority shall be by non-interchangeable trades in the event of layoff and recall. At other times, skilled trades may be interchangeable. However, a Journeyperson changing from one trade to another will have date of entry seniority only, in the trade to which they transfer. 19.05 Future employees entering a classification or trade shall have date of entry seniority in the skilled trades as listed in 19.03 above. 19.06 Production workers will not carry seniority into the trades or classifications listed in 19.03 above nor will skilled trades workers exercise seniority into production or non-production groups, except where a trade or classification listed in 19.03 above is discontinued or eliminated. (a) Such employee will then exercise their total Company seniority for the purpose of displacing a junior employee in the classification or trade for which they are qualified, or shall exercise all of their Company seniority in the general production or non-production groups under the agreement. (b) Should a Skilled Trades employee become medically unfit and unable to follow their skilled trade, both the Company and the Union will co-operate in endeavouring to place such employee on a job they are capable of performing, taking their total seniority with them. However, if placed on a non-skilled classification, they shall then forfeit all rights within the Skilled Trades.

Such deductions shall have date of entry seniority be made at the same time as regular union dues and thereafter on an annual basis in the skilled trades as listed in 19.03 abovemonth of January. These deductions, along with the names of the employees shall be remitted to the financial secretary of the CAW Local 504. 19.06 25.03 All Maintenance employees will be offered registration in a second trade after being with the Company and licensed for a period of one (1) year. In the event this arrangement contravenes the law, the law will apply. The Company reserves the right to limit the number of apprentices away at school but will not withhold permission unreasonably. 25.04 Production workers will not carry seniority into the skilled trades or classifications listed in 19.03 above classification, nor will skilled trades workers exercise seniority into production or non-production groups, except where groups in cases of layoff. 25.05 Each person employed in a trade (tradesperson or classification listed apprentice) will provide the company with an up-to-date inventory of the tools normally stored on Company property. This inventory of the tools is to provide the Company’s insurer with background data in 19.03 above is discontinued case of major loss or eliminatedtheft while the tools are on Company property. 25.06 In the event of a layoff, probationary tradespersons will be laid off first, first ticket apprentices next, then journeypersons all in reverse order of seniority in their core trade. The purpose of the Committee is to consider training opportunities, reducing maintenance costs through eliminating contractors, and defining skilled trades work. The Committee will co-operate meet quarterly to review and provide recommendations to Plant Leadership. 25.10 The Company will supply the maintenance employees with a toolbox upon hiring. It is agreed that in endeavouring to place such employee on the event of a job they are capable layoff, resignation or termination of performinga seniority employee, taking their total seniority with them.
