Common use of Specialty Unit Training Clause in Contracts

Specialty Unit Training. If a temporary position is created for the purpose of 2 training in a specialty area, the position will be posted in the same manner and duration 3 as other position postings under this Agreement. An interview committee will be named, 4 which will include an Association representative from the specialty unit, unit leadership, 5 and bargaining unit nurse(s) from the specialty unit selected collaboratively by the 6 Association representative and the supervisor/manager/director. The committee will 7 make a selection recommendation by consensus to the supervisor/manager/director, 8 based on the committee's assessment of the applicants' seniority, position status (full- 9 time, part-time, relief, or temporary) and potential for success in the training program 10 and in the specialty unit. The committee's recommendation will be given serious 11 consideration by the leader manager. If the leader manager does not intend to 12 implement the committee recommendation, the leader manager will meet with the 13 committee to discuss the selection. The committee meeting is paid time. 15 If a voluntary training program offered by the Hospital is anticipated to be a 16 requirement or preference for a future position in the specialty unit, that information will 17 be included on material made available to the nurses about the training program prior to 18 enrollment. At the request of the nurse, the Hospital will make reasonable, good faith 19 efforts to allow regular part-time and full-time nurses to take time off from their regular 20 positions to participate in the program.
