Superintendent Approved Leave. A leave of absence to be paid at the rate of one cent for the entire period of leave may be granted to any Teacher at the Superintendent’s discretion. Persons who have been granted leave under this provision for an entire school year (or more) will not earn credit on the salary schedule during the leave period. In other words, when a Teacher who has been on leave for an entire school year (or longer) under this provision, the Teacher will be placed on the salary schedule at the same level he or she was placed on the last day worked. Teachers using this leave are prohibited from holding a teaching position at another school corporation, charter school, or private elementary, middle, or high school or from holding other full-time employment. During leave under this provision, a Teacher will have the option to remain in the Corporation’s group health insurance plan (subject to the terms of the applicable plan or policy, as amended from time to time) provided the Teacher was enrolled in the plan immediately before taking leave, the Teacher pays the entire insurance premium applicable to the insurance coverage with the monthly payments to be made on or before the 20th of the previous month.
