WORKPLACE SAFETY INSURANCE BOARD. (a) A Nurse who is injured while at work and as a result of such injury is certified by a medical doctor as unfit to complete the working day, shall receive pay at the regular rate for time lost on the day that such injury is sustained and no deduction will be made from sick leave credits with respect to that particular working day. (b) Where a Nurse is absent from work as a result of an illness or injury compensable under the Workplace Safety and Insurance Act, she/he shall (providing sufficient sick leave credits are accumulated) during the first one hundred and four (104) weeks, have her/his WSIB payment augmented by an amount sufficient to ensure that the payment received from the Employer and the WSIB Benefit is equivalent to the regular daily earnings of the Nurse immediately prior to the illness or injury. The amount provided by the Employer (usually one-quarter) shall be charged to the Nurse's accumulated sick leave. (c) The regular Nurse will receive the WSIB cheque directly. The Employer will pay the amount required to continue regular earnings (usually one- quarter of the daily earnings) on a biweekly basis. Income tax, C.P.P. and E.I. will be deducted from the amount paid by the Employer. (d) The Nurse will be required to complete an OMERS "Disability Elimination Election Form". If she/he elects not to contribute to OMERS during the first seventeen (17) weeks she/he is on WSIB Benefits, the absence becomes a period of broken service, which cannot be purchased as broken service. If the Nurse elects to contribute to OMERS during the disability elimination period (first seventeen [17] weeks) and accrue credited service, she/he shall pay the OMERS amount calculated on her/his regular biweekly pay to the Employer on a biweekly basis and the Employer will match the Nurse's contribution. (e) In the event the sick leave credits are insufficient to carry the Nurse to the seven hundred and twenty-eighth (728th) day of disability (104 weeks), the Nurse shall receive the actual amount paid by the WSIB.

WORKPLACE SAFETY INSURANCE BOARD. 7.01 When a teacher is eligible for, and receives approval of claim by the Workplace Safety Insurance Board of Ontario: (i) The Workplace Safety Insurance Compensation payment shall be remitted to the Board. (ii) The teacher may elect to receive full pay from the Board until the teacher's sick leave credits expire. The number of days deducted from the teacher’s sick leave bank shall be in proportion to the percentage of the teacher’s salary paid by the Board if the teacher makes an election to receive salary from the Board. 7.02 A joint health and safety Committee shall be maintained and shall be composed of employee and employer representation. The Secondary Unit shall be entitled to one representative.
WORKPLACE SAFETY INSURANCE BOARD. When an employee is absent owing to incapacity and an award has been made by the Workplace Safety & Insurance Board, the employee shall receive the difference between the nurse’s salary and the amount of such award to the extent of the nurse’s accumulated sick leave credits, or in the event an employee does not have sick credits to the extent of the nurse’s short term disability plan entitlement, such amount or amounts to be deducted from the employee`s accumulated sick leave credits, or from the employee’s entitlement under the short term disability plan.
WORKPLACE SAFETY INSURANCE BOARD. 18.01 Where a member of the Police Service is injured in any place in the execution of their work duty, whether at the time of such injury, such member was or was not on duty, such injury shall be reported to the Workplace Safety Insurance Board (WSIB), and the Board shall pay compensation in accordance with the decision of the said WSIB. 18.02 In the case of a member of the Police who is awarded Workplace Safety Insurance Benefits, the Board shall pay the member the member's normal after-tax net pay, which shall be considered to be an advance of compensation benefits, until the member returns to work or retires, in which case the provisions of Article XVIII, Clause 18.01 will apply.
WORKPLACE SAFETY INSURANCE BOARD a) An employee injured while and as a result of performing his Company’s duties, will suffer no loss of basic pay on the day he was injured, providing, in the opinion of the Company or a doctor, the employee was unable to continue working. b) If an employee is injured in the course of performing work duties assigned by the Company and as a result of such injury is in receipt of payment by the Workplace Safety Insurance Board for time lost, the Company shall pay the difference between the amount received by the employee from the Workplace Safety Insurance Board for lost basic wages and the amount he would have received for his basic wage had he not been injured. Such payment will be made on a separate pay deposit. Under no circumstances shall the Company continue the make-up of the difference beyond three (3) calendar months from the day the employee became entitled to Workplace Safety Insurance Board payment. Basic wage is defined as the amount of regular wages received by an employee, excluding shift premiums, Sunday premiums, overtime and standby compensation. This Section (10:02 (b)) does not apply to probationary employees. It is understood and agreed that if any payment by the Company exceeds an amount greater than his basic wage when such an amount is combined with his Workplace Safety Insurance Board payment, then the excess payment shall be refunded to the Company.

Legislation, the employee will receive payment in accordance with the Legislation. b) For a period of time not to exceed twenty four (24) months, only those employees on leave covered by W.S.I.B. shall be given consideration for any job which the employee is capable and qualified to perform. Failure to accept an alternative job, which the employee is deemed capable and qualified for, will result in discharge from the Company.
WORKPLACE SAFETY INSURANCE BOARD. 25.01 A copy of an Employee's Report of Injury/Disease (Form 7) will be given to the employee. 25.02 When an employee is eligible for and receives approval of a claim by the Workplace Safety Insurance Board of Ontario he/she shall select one of the following options: Option A All Workplace Safety Insurance Board payments shall be remitted directly to the school Board. Upon remittance to the Board by the employees as provided in subparagraph (i) the employee shall then receive full pay from the Board. The Board shall deduct the number of days from the employee’s sick leave credits in proportion to the percentage of employee’s salary paid by the Board pursuant to the subparagraph (ii). If and when the employee’s sick leave credits are exhausted, the employee shall only receive the Workplace Safety Insurance Board payment. OR Option B The employee receives Workplace Safety Insurance Board payments directly without any supplement from the Board. The employee must give immediate notice in writing to the Executive Officer, Human Resources Services if he/she chooses this option.
